DIPLOMA IN CULTURAL VENUE OPERATIONS
The Diploma in Cultural Venue Operations at SCQF Level 6 covers areas such as solving business problems, identifying cultural interest, promoting cultural venues and cultural venue operations.
This qualification takes 12 months to complete.
This qualification is awarded by SQA and consists of mandatory units and optional units, so the qualification can be tailored to candidate and business needs.
This qualification is based on National Occupational Standards, defined by Creative and Cultural Skills the Sector Skills Council.
Example roles: front of house, administrators, gallery staff, wardens, customer and visitor services, guides, demonstrators, sales and education liaison.
The candidate will work towards building their e-portfolio with full support being provided by Rewards throughout the qualification, visiting the workplace to meet with the candidate. Progress will be reviewed at visits and we will seek the managers input and feedback as part of this. The e-portfolio allows the candidate to easily submit work and communicate with their assessor remotely, in between face to face visits.
This SVQ will develop a candidates understanding of the museums and galleries sector and the wider creative and cultural context. It includes assisting customers, visitors or audiences in getting the best from their experience of a creative and cultural organisation, providing specific information on a collection for a cultural heritage organisation, and contributing to the care of items within a cultural venue.
Rewards staff have been very professional at all levels and the assessor has been a great support to all. Rewards has been very helpful to secure funding to allow a further eight members of staff to complete this qualification.
Glasgow Science Centre is looking forward to working with Rewards in the future and would highly recommend them to any other businesses.
