SVQ IN MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES PRACTICE
The Level 3 SVQ in Museums and Galleries Practice at SCQF Level 7, will develop a candidates understanding of the museums and galleries sector and the wider creative and cultural context.
It includes assisting customers, visitors or audiences in getting the best from their experience of a creative and cultural organisation, providing specific information on a collection for a cultural heritage organisation, and contributing to the care of items within a cultural venue. In addition, candidates will learn to take responsibility for their own work and professional development through planning and self-evaluating.
This qualification takes 12 months to complete.
This qualification is awarded by SQA and consists of mandatory units and optional units, so the qualification can be tailored to candidate and business needs.
This qualification is based on National Occupational Standards, defined by Creative and Cultural Skills the Sector Skills Council.
Suitable for individuals who are currently employed in a cultural venue or museum/gallery or learners who have just left school.
The Diploma in Cultural Venue Operations at SCQF level 6 covers areas such as solving business problems, identifying cultural interest, promoting cultural venues and cultural venue operations.
Example roles: front of house, administrators, gallery staff, wardens, customer and visitor services, guides, demonstrators, sales and education liaison.
